Calculate Calories Burned

The formula for calculating calories burned during various activities takes into account several factors:

* the type of activity performed
* the duration you performed the activity
* the degree of intensity of the activity
* your body weight

In addition, the formula takes into account METs (metabolic equivalents) which are an expression of how intense each type of activity is. The formula used by this calculator is as follows:

Calories burned by activity = ((METs * 2 * weight in lbs) / 100) * duration in minutes.
